do French and Germans have common ancestry?
pretty soon im going to trace my genealogy and im really excited and interested.
im 32 , born in England , im Caucasian of majority north French descent and ancestry.
both my mothers parents were from Boulogne-sur-Mer in northern France. my dads parents his mother from andalusia and his dad from Isère Rhone-Alpes in france .
so the majority of my heritage and ancestry is northern French as you can see.
i learned recently that most northern French people have a lot of German ancestry to, anybody knowledgeable on this ?
I’ve done the same myself in the past, looked through Family Trees and found a families from different countries.
If my research was correct, the original settlers of Europe all came from pretty much one place, then branched out. And over the years the France/Germany border has blended and there is plenty of crossing over, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if you did have German ancestors.
